How it actually works
Mold loves two things: stagnant air and damp surfaces. It’s a perfect storm. Standard heaters just warm up the air, which doesn’t do much for the moisture clinging to your walls. Infrared is different. It uses short-wave energy to target the water molecules on your tiles and grout directly. It warms the surface almost instantly. And here’s the trick: when your walls are warmer than the air around them, water can’t condense. No condensation means no “damp wall” feel, and without that moisture, mold has nowhere to live. It’s that simple.
Built for the splash zone
You obviously can’t just toss a regular lamp into a shower area. That’s a recipe for disaster. That’s why we stick to IP66 standards. In plain English? The housing is totally dust-tight and can handle high-pressure water jets without breaking a sweat. We use heavy-duty gaskets and sealed cables so steam and spray never touch the electrical parts. A few things to watch out for
Now, there’s a catch. These heaters put out a lot of intense heat. If you cram a high-wattage heater into a tiny bathroom without any ventilation, you’re basically building a sauna. It’ll get way too hot and could even damage your ceiling materials. You’ve got to balance the power of the lamp with the size of the room. You want a drying effect, not a steam room. Also, make sure you’re using high-temp cabling. You don’t want the insulation melting near the lamp head. Just a bit of planning and you’re set.
