Getting Your SACMI Rotary Lamps Up to Speed

When you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you don’t have time to wait around. The window to heat that preform is tiny. That’s why we built our replacement lamps for SACMI rotary machines to hit peak temperature almost instantly. No lagging, no waiting for the heat to “kick in”—just stable, hot output the moment you flip the switch.
The secret is in the power.
To keep up with those fast SACMI cycles, we pushed the wattage density higher. We tweaked the filament geometry and the voltage load so the lamp ramps up in milliseconds.
Why does that matter? Because if your lamps are slow to wake up during a start-up or a speed change, your preforms won’t heat evenly. And once you start seeing uneven wall thickness in your bottles, you’ve got a problem on your hands.
It’s more than just a lightbulb.
We use heavy-wall quartz glass because these things take a beating from the constant thermal shock of rapid cycling. We also added specific coatings to the glass. Instead of letting heat bleed out into the machine frame, these coatings push the infrared energy straight into the PET.
We even beefed up the connectors. They fit tight, which means no arcing, even when the machine is vibrating at full tilt.
Putting them to work
The best part? These are drop-in replacements. You won’t need to touch your wiring or mess with the oven setup.
Just a heads-up, though: because these lamps hit hard and fast, they put more stress on your reflectors. I’d suggest checking your alignment every 500 hours. If your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, they’ll just soak up that heat instead of bouncing it onto the plastic, and you lose all those fast-start benefits.
Also, keep your cooling blowers clean. These tubes generate a lot of concentrated heat, and you want to make sure the air is moving.
