
Stop Chasing Your Tail with Burned-Out PET Lamps

To get those PET preforms to the right temperature for blowing, you need a lot of power. Fast. But that kind of heat density is brutal on the filament. To fix this, we went with a heavy-duty tungsten filament. It doesn’t thin out nearly as fast as the cheap stuff. One quick tip, though: check your oven’s airflow. If your vents are clogged, the housing overheats. At that point, it doesn’t matter whose lamp you’re using—it’s going to die early. Built to actually last. We stopped worrying about just meeting a spec and started focusing on how these things survive in the real world. We beefed up the quartz wall thickness and tightened the seals where the lamp meets the contact points. The best part? They’re simple drop-in replacements. You don’t have to mess with your wiring or move your racks around. We also tweaked the connectors so they grip tight. This stops that annoying arcing at the terminals that usually kills the end-caps when the machine is vibrating. What this means for your shift. When you’re using a SIG Blomax, you need the heat to be steady. If it dips, you get those annoying “thin spots” in your bottles. Our reinforced lamps hold a steady output for much longer. That means you aren’t stopping the line mid-shift to swap out a dead bulb. It’s just… smoother.
